After a lot of speculations and rumours its official now. The Kaabil actress Yami Gautam and Shraddha Kapoor have been roped in opposite Shahid Kapoor for Batti Gul Meter Chalu.

Shahid Kapoor has been a constant choice for the makers since the movie was announced but the casting of actress for the movie was a long process for the makers.

Yami might play the character of a lawyer in the film. She took to Twitter to share the good news and her excitement on being a part of the film. She wrote “Super happy to commence this special journey with @kriarj on ‘ Batti Gul Meter Chalu ‘ :) Really excited for this one #Prerna #Shree @shahidkapoor @ShraddhaKapoor”.

Welcoming her on joining the team, her co-star Shahid Kapoor wrote: “Great to have you on board.”

Directed by Shree Narayan Singh of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha fame, the plot of the film will revolve around a common man’s daily struggles involving the shortage of electricity supply as well as increasing price of basic necessities in life.

The shooting of the film is scheduled to begin from January 19 this year and planned to hit the big screen by August 2018.
