After just about decent opening, Drishyam has managed to find its audience. An offbeat dramatic thriller with just a couple of songs that played in the background, this is one of the most unconventional films of Ajay Devgn, ever since one can remember. Still, on the basis of fantastic reviews and solid word of mouth, the Nishikant Kamat directed film has managed to hold on well for three weeks now.

As a result, the film has now crossed the 72 crore mark, and that too despite releasing at the time when Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Baahubali were doing strong, while Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation and Brothers arrived on weeks after that. Even though these four films collected well between them, Drishyam managed to bring in audience on a continued basis. In fact such has been the confidence shown by many exhibitors across the country that its shows were also increased mid-week.

The film is set to gain further this weekend since the new releases haven’t taken a good opening and the footfalls for them would be limited in days to follow. As a result, yet another consistent week is on the cards for Drishyam. This means that now, Ajay Devgn has a good chance of seeing Drishyam cross the 80 crore mark.

Now this is quite good as yet again the adage of ‘a good film never fails’ has been proven true. If not for the Bajrangi Bhaijaan wave, the film may have well taken a shot at the 100 crore club. That said, Drishyam as a film is much bigger than the numbers it gets and even an (expected) 80 crore total is a considerable enough milestone to be relished.

From Box Office standpoint, it is now an Above Average affair.
