Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover are reuniting after six years for The Great Indian Kapil Show. Together, Kapil and Sunil have made the audience laugh their hearts out with their comedy and camaraderie. Hence, when news about their fallout made headlines in 2017, fans worried if they would sort things out or work together again.
To the uninitiated, in 2017, reports stated that Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover had an altercation during their flight back to Melbourne. As per the reports, Kapil, who was heavily drunk, allegedly threw a shoe at the Jawan movie actor. There was reportedly an exchange of abuses between the two. While Kapil has often indirectly spoken up about his issues, Sunil has never given a reaction before.
After so many years, Sunil Grover finally broke his silence about his fallout with Kapil. During the press conference of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Sunil was asked about his reunion with Kapil for the Netflix series. The actor-comedian joked that it was all a publicity stunt.
Sunil Grover said, “Actually, hum log flight mein baithe the 6 saal pehle, humko aisa tha ki ab Netflix India mein aa raha hai. Toh humlo laga ki television ki audience ko baandh ke rakhne ke liye kuch karna padega, jo publicity stunt ho. Iss show ke launch ke liye. That’s how we came up with the idea of a fight as a publicity stunt.” (We were actually sitting on a flight six years ago, and we thought that Netflix was coming to India soon. Well, even though it’s a joke, it’s good to see Sunil Grover finally give some reaction and a humorous one to everything that went down between him and Kapil. The answer is quite intelligent, as the theme for Kapil’s Netflix show is also related to flights and airports. Their fans can’t wait to see the magic they bring on the digital screens with their unique blend of humour and great performances.
Along with Kapil and Sunil, The Great Indian Kapil Show also stars Archana Puran Singh, Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek and Rajiv Thakur. Neetu Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor and his sister Riddhima are the first guests on the show. The first episode will stream on Netflix on March 30, 2024 at 8 PM.
