Shilpa Shinde fans were excited when she announced her Television comeback. Post Bigg Boss, the actress signed a comedy show, Gangs Of Filmistan. It also features Sunil Grover in the lead. While the makers thought it was the perfect combination of an ace actress and a comedian – looks like things didn’t go as planned. The show is now in a soup.
It all started with Shilpa coming out in the public and making some serious allegations on the makers. The Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain actress claimed that the makers hid Sunil’s casting from her. She never wanted to work with the comedian and was assured that they did not have any scenes together. Just not that, Shinde confessed that she wants to quit the show as the makers were flouting guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Now, Gangs Of Filmistan producer Preeti Simoes has reacted and refuted all the claims. She maintains that the team is following all the necessary protocols. They are also producing India’s Best Dancer, so would never compromise on the precautionary guidelines. Talking about Sunil Grover’s casting, Preeti has a rather different side.
In a conversation with Times Of India, Preeti Simoes began, “When we were casting, Shilpa Shinde was the first name that was finalised for the show. Sunil was brought on board very later. And any creative process is a process by the time the show got developed into what it is today, there was a need to cast someone of Sunil’s stature and experience to be a part of the show. So, when the show went on the floor, when we were shooting the promo, Shilpa knew about it. In fact, during the shooting of the promo, she had a few reservations and we spoke about it very nicely. In fact, I really mean it from the bottom of my heart, she really gets along well with Sunil also.
Talking about Sunil Grover and Shilpa Shinde’s bond, “They are very cordial with each other. We do many spoofs of Bollywood films in the show and every spoof has a male lead and a female lead so Shilpa usually ends up playing the female lead and Sunil the male lead. Their chemistry with each other is so good. We mail scripts two days in advance so if there was any apprehension she could have brought it up. She never did that. She never told me that she doesn’t want to perform with Sunil Grover or her lines were less as compared to other actors,” she continued.
Refuting all the claims of giving Shilpa less screen space, Preeti said, “Why would I pay to get a Shilpa Shinde when I won’t show her in the episode. She is an A-list actress of television, so why would I get her name and not utilise her. As far as giving favouritism to Sunil Grover is concerned, that’s not at all true because only the first promo was Sunil but after that, all actors who have been in combination with other actors have their individual promo. Everyone is pretty much equal on the show, I think the anxiety that she has about not being seen on the show, will fade away.”
The Gangs Of Filmistan producer concluded saying that she is ready to talk and solve out issues. But is Shilpa Shinde up for it? Only time will tell.
