Anushka Sharma has scored yet another home-run with her second outing as a producer with Amazon Prime Video’s Paatal Lok. While the series has been appreciated by viewers and critics alike, there is a certain section of the society that seems to be miffed with the web series.
It has been reported that Anushka Sharma has been slapped with a legal notice by a Mr. Viren Sri Gurung over a case of perceived casteist slur in the series. A member of the Lawyers Guild, Viren has stated in his legal notice that there is a word that comes across as an insult to the Nepali community.
A copy of the notice sent to Anushka Sharma by Viren has been obtained by The Quint. Excerpt from it read, “There is a clip wherein during an interrogation a lady police officer uses a casteist slur on a Nepali character. There wouldn’t have been any problem had only ‘Nepali’ been used. But the word that follows it is unacceptable. Since Anushka Sharma is one of the producers of the show, we have served her a notice.” Mr. Viren has further revealed that he is yet to receive a response from Anushka and will soon be taking up the matter with Amazon Prime Video.
