In one of her interviews long ago, the actress was all praises for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and the creator. In an interaction with Tellychakkar, the birthday girl had talked about the show’s comedy. She said, “I feel that canned laughter does not necessarily make a show a comedy. Rather, the viewer should laugh spontaneously on seeing the show.”
Disha Vakani further added, “Taarak Mehta in our show in a way reminds me of Charlie Chaplin who had said, “I always like walking in the rain, so no one can see me crying.” The scene in Gold Rush in which Chaplin boils and eats a shoe is very touching and poignant though it is a comedy. Despite being sad, enjoy life- that is comedy.”
The actress also spoke about her famous line ‘Tappu Ke Papa’. She said, “It is a custom in Gujarati families that the wife should not call her husband by his first name. It is believed that if she does so, her husband’s life span will be cut short. This is why she addresses him as the father of her child. Or she will call him by enquiring, ‘Are you listening?’.”
