Similarly, one of our most favourite character of Lisa Kudrow aka Phoebe Buffay was supposed to be played by someone else and not her. Can you believe your eyes? we can’t!
Phoebe’s role was initially offered to mega host and Hollywood celebrity, Ellen DeGeneres. Yes, you read that right. She turned down the role and it was then offered to Kathy Griffin.
During an interview with Huff Post Live, Kathy revealed that she along with Jane Lynch both auditioned to play the role of Phoebe Buffay. And we are glad that finally, the role landed to Lisa Kudrow because we literally can’t imagine anyone else giggling to her own jokes on the show except for her.
Speaking about her friendship with Jane, Kathy said, “I’ve known Jane since we were both auditioning — I think we were auditioning for Phoebe on Friends like all my other girlfriends did…”
