ITV’s Beecham House first premiered in July-July 2019 and we reviewed it post its Netflix release. The 6 episode show directed by Gurinder Chadha is set in India in 1795 which was a period when India started getting converted in British India.
Starring talented stars like Lara Dutta, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Tom Bateman, Leo Suter, Pallavi Sharda and others, the show has now started airing on the US & Australia television as well. While in the US, it’s airing as part of Masterpiece (TV series) on PBS, in Australia it’s airing on Network 10.
Beecham House is a nice watch if you have a love for history as it beautifully takes you back in the early British era in India. But what catches the most attention is its locations and background music. A lot of people while watching the show must’ve wondered where the show was actually shot in India? According to Radio Times, some of the major locations where Beecham House in India was shot was Chomu Palace, Samode Palace, Amber Fort in Jaipur & Taj Mahal in Agra.
Since early India was all about lavish mahals, it made sense for makers to go to Rajasthan which still has maintained the heredity heritage pretty well.
Talking about the filming locations of Beecham House, Tom Bateman, who plays the lead role of John Beecham said, “Samode Bagh was my favourite one. There was this beautiful quad where we were staying, and it’s out the back, they had a swimming pool and stuff, and out the back was John Beecham’s garden. So we got to stay there and walk around those gardens and stuff… it was like a big old holiday.”
Also appreciating the Taj Mahal, Bateman said, “The Taj Mahal was one hell of a way to finish.”
