In 2021, he was accused of hurting religious sentiments and was then arrested. Faruqui became famous as a stand-up comedian and spent a month in jail before getting out on bail. Many of his shows were canceled, leading him to announce that he would quit comedy. Faruqui made a comeback through Kangana Ranaut‘s hosted reality TV show Lock Upp in 2022. He won the first season of the show. Munawar appeared once again, showing his winning streak in BB 17.

On Tuesday, the Mumbai Police raided an illegal hookah parlor, and Munawar Faruqui was found and detained. According to ANI, the Big Boss 17 winner was later released. As per media reports, the police seized Rs 4,400 cash and nine hookah pots worth Rs13,500 from the parlor, located in the city’s Fort area. The raid began on Tuesday at 10.30 pm and continued till Wednesday at 5 am.
