In 2021, he was accused of hurting religious sentiments and was then arrested. Faruqui became famous as a stand-up comedian and spent a month in jail before getting out on bail. Many of his shows were canceled, leading him to announce that he would quit comedy. Faruqui made a comeback through Kangana Ranaut‘s hosted reality TV show Lock Upp in 2022. He won the first season of the show. Munawar appeared once again, showing his winning streak in BB 17.
On Tuesday, the Mumbai Police raided an illegal hookah parlor, and Munawar Faruqui was found and detained. According to ANI, the Big Boss 17 winner was later released. As per media reports, the police seized Rs 4,400 cash and nine hookah pots worth Rs13,500 from the parlor, located in the city’s Fort area. The raid began on Tuesday at 10.30 pm and continued till Wednesday at 5 am.
As per a senior police official’s quote to PTI, Bigg Boss 17’s Munawar Faruqui and others were smoking at the joint, and the police also obtained a video of the act. The comedian and others will likely be charged under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act if the police find out that they used tobacco hookah in the name of herbal.
The police said, “We detained Faruqui and others, but they were later allowed to go as the sections slapped against them were bailable.” They were served notices and allowed to leave as per the official.

The Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner landed in trouble earlier this month for slapping and beating a small-time YouTuber, Sagar Thakur. The video went viral on social media. Before that, he was arrested along with five others for allegedly supplying snake venom to party revelers for recreational use.
