As the lockdown doesn’t seem to end soon, a lot of films are releasing on OTT platforms. Rana Daggubati, an actor and producer, was asked his views on directors releasing his films on the digital platform. Recently, it was announced that films like Gulabo Sitabo, Shakuntala Devi, and many others will hit the OTT platforms soon.

While fans are happy that they will get more entertainment on their mobile phones, theatre owners aren’t pleased. In an interaction with Pinkvilla, Rana Daggubati gave a positive response to filmmakers releasing their films on OTT platform. The actor said that everyone takes a call on what is OTT and what is film. He believes that as actors or organisation if anything leads issues of censorship they prefer moving it to OTT.

But Rana Daggubati shared that some film like Avengers or Star Wars will require big screens and need to be released in theatre. The Baahubali actor stated, “But, anything that is still large and spectacle, we will continue to back it for the theatres for a simple reason that man has; from the time of Colosseum, we needed a place to go together and watch something big. There’s a more dramatic way of narrating characters in anything that is OTT. But, when you watch Star Wars or Avengers or when you watch anything that is big and you want it to blow your mind off, that usually has to come back to the cinemas.”
