Kalki 2898 AD, aka Project K, is one of the biggest releases of 2024. The science fiction dystopian film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. The Nag Ashwin directorial has caused a lot of excitement ever since the first look and teaser were dropped last year.

Ever since Kalki 2898 AD first glimpse was released, fans of the actors and moviegoers have been wondering exactly what the film’s plot is. Now, director Nag Ashwin has shared insightful details and the story’s connection to Mahabharat. He also stated that he doesn’t want his film to resemble Blade Runner.

During the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, the director shared, “The film starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It spans 6000 years in time. We tried to create worlds, imagining what they would be like while still keeping it Indian, not making it look like Blade Runner. The film begins 6000 years behind 2898 AD is 3102 BC, which is when the last avatar of Krishna is believed to have passed.”
