Aadujeevitham Star Prithviraj Sukumaran On Being A Nepo Baby: “I Got My First Film Only Because Of My Surname”

The Goat Life actor added that even though he owes his first film to his surname, every actor is evaluated by the audience who watch their movies on Friday.

Prithviraj Sukumaran is currently basking on the success of his recently released film, Aadujeevitham, aka The Goat Life. The movie was released in theatres on March 29 and received many positive reviews. Directed by Blessy, even the audience can’t get enough of the actor’s dedication to play such a challenging role in such a complicated story.

In the Malayalam film industry, Prithviraj and Dulquer Salmaan are among the most successful actors. Like Bollywood, nepotism discussions don’t happen much in the South Industry. However, the actors are aware of their privilege and often talk about being star kids. In a recent interview, the Aiyyaa actor opened up about how he got his first film because of his surname.

About being friends With Dulquer Salmaan and nepotism, Prithviraj Sukumaran told Mashable India, “In Kerala, we live quite close to each other, and we are all well ‘Nepo kids’. I have had it easy to come into the industry. I got my first film only because of my surname. Someone thought I would make a good lead actor because I was so and so’s son. I wasn’t even screen-tested. I owe my first film only to my surname, nothing else.”

The Goat Life actor added that even though he owes his first film to his surname, every actor is evaluated by the audience who watch their movies on Friday. If someone isn’t good enough, they can’t be protected even by the board of directors. Prithviraj said, “You are out there to be judged by the public, and you’ll have to face them. But having said that, I repeat, yes, I’ve had it easy to get into the industry.”

After many years, Prithviraj will be seen in a Hindi film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film also stars Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Alaya F and Manushi Chhillar. The action thriller will release in theatres on April 10, 2024.
