Sacred Games Season 2 Review (Mid-Season): The Real Game Has Just Begun!

Sacred Games 2 Review (Mid-Season): As one wise man once said, “Yeh pura lafda chaalu hua, ek phone call ke saath” (All this chaos started with a phone call); we left our Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) amidst the dark (literally!) in season 1. Saif Ali Khan’s Sartaj Singh is still finding his answers, and we have a new baddie (actually, he’s old) rising in Guruji (Pankaj Tripathi).

The season 2 starts with Ganesh Gaitonde being transferred somewhere in a ship. Now, I’ll try and resist to put any kind of a spoiler but forgive me if any of my lines spoil your watching experience. Director Neeraj Ghaywan takes no time to settle in, as Anurag Kashyap helps him to jointly direct the episodes. From the first scene, things start getting clearer.

By now we know, Ganesh Gaitonde will be seen in Mombasa, Kenya but the first episode unveils how and why he’s shifted there. In India, at the current time, we see Sartaj Singh trying to solve the puzzle about Gaitonde’s third father. As this first three episodes pass, we see a different shade of Gaitonde. He’s at his vulnerable worst and might be, more dangerous than ever.

The first three episodes also lay the base of Gaitonde’s equation with Guruji. Now, we know there’s a lot to come in the further episodes but even with just the first 3, we ensure you a thrilling ride ahead. Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui retain both the characters with utmost grace. Surveen Chawla in the big surprise of the initial episodes, and hope the already-mysterious narrative gets strengthened ahead.
