What makes John Cena so popular within the Indian audience? Besides being a much loved wrester from the WWE, the athlete-turned-actor-turned-rapper is always in the news for posting uncaptioned pictures of Indian actors and sportsmen, which he describes in his Insta bio as, “These images will be posted without explanation, for your interpretation. Enjoy.” As John Cena turns 43 today, Koimoi lists down 10 instances when John Cena took the internet by storm after posting random pictures of Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh and Bigg Boss 13 runner up Asim Riaz among a few others. Take a look:
Shah Rukh Khan
One thing is for sure that John Cena is a fan of King Khan and his life lessons. But when you think about it, who isn’t? The wrestler too is no exception as he has posted pictures of SRK with his quotes twice, while another snap is from the launch of his show, TED Talks India-Nayi Baat, in October 2019. Another interesting commonality between the two superstars is that while Cena hosts the American quiz game show Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?, Shah Rukh has hosted it’s Indian version, Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? in 2008. Hope we also get to see them collaborate on something soon.
Is John Cena a fan of Ranveer Singh’s dressing style or his films, or both? While only the wrestler can answer that, but going by his Insta posts it seems like Cena is an admirer of it all. While in October 2019, he had uploaded a picture of the actor in his trademark multi coloured shirt, a few months earlier he had posted a still from Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy featuring Ranveer and Siddhant Chaturvedi in the frame. The latter was a month after the release of the film. Had he seen it and liked it? We wonder.
While Bigg Boss 13 was probably the most popular season of all times, we didn’t know that John Cena too was one of the many fans of the Salman Khan hosted reality show. 10 days before the show’s grand finale took place on February 15 this year, Cena put out a picture of popular contestant Asim Riaz on Instagram, fuelling speculations that the wrestler was rooting for the model-actor. While Asim lost the show to Sidharth Shukla, he indeed won a lot of fans, one of them being John Cena.
John Cena’s interest in Indian Television became clear when he had posted a picture of comedian Kapil Sharma in 2018 doing his popular ‘babaji ka thullu’ gesture. The picture seems from a stage show that the comedian-turned-actor must have done earlier, but it had surely sent his fans into a tizzy back then.
Sachin Tendulkar and Daler Mehendi
In a gap of two days, Cena had posted two pictures, one of singer Daler Mehendi and another of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar taking a lap on his farewell from test cricket. These one surely kept his and their fans confused for many days.
Sushant Singh Rajput
While SSR isn’t too active on social media lately, his fans had rejoiced when John Cena had uploaded a picture of Sushant surrounded by some army men in September 2019. This was soon after the release of Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore. We don’t know what to make out of it.
Happy Birthday Champ!
