Dhoom 2

No doubt, Dhoom featuring John Abraham as an antagonist, gave us one of the most stylish negative characters of Bollywood and kick-started the frenzy of a sports bike, Dhoom 2 was promisingly as good as the first installment. With Hrithik Roshan taking the lead, D2 was high on style and action quotient. Also, despite being bashed for copying some of the scenes, the film had enough twists and entertaining elements which made audiences glued to their seats. Apart from its blockbuster theatrical success, the film still has a decent repeat value for television screening.

Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2

Most often we see the same jokes carried forward in the sequel but Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 deserves full marks here as we got to see some fresh comic sequences and genuine laughter. Right from its production value to entertainment quotient, the film proved to be a winner both commercially and critically. Unfortunately, it saw some cuts from censor board due to inappropriate use of language but it hardly affected its fun value. Kudos to Luv Ranjan!

Don 2

Bringing back Shah Rukh Khan in one of the most loved avatars i.e. bad guy, Don 2 was a treat for lovers of commercial potboilers. With some cool action sequences, twists and of course, SRK’s dialogues, the action entertainer was a much better upgrade to 2006’s Don. In its theatrical run too, the film managed to hit the 100 crore mark. All such love and appreciation from the audience triggered the makers to confirm the third instalment.

Tiger Zinda Hai

After the tremendous success of Ek Tha Tiger, Ali Abbas Zafar replaced Kabir Khan as a director for the sequel. Expectedly the hopes were sky high this time and the trio of Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali, managed to give its best shot. With a good storyline and some amazingly designed action scenes, the film was a perfect masala entertainer. Ali managed to make most of Salman’s larger than life persona. The music of Vishal-Shekhar and the performances of Paresh Rawal, Sajjad Delafrooz (antagonist) deserve a special mention.

Housefull 2

Another comic caper on the list after Punchnama 2. Although the franchise has four successful instalments to boast of, Housefull 2 has a fan base of its own. With a perfect dose of Akshay Kumar’s antics and ‘mad’ performances by the entire cast, the Sajid Khan directorial was a perfect sequel. Apart from its theatrical success, the film enjoys a good repeat value on the small screen.
