The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League has officially begun. The show’s opening Ceremony is broadcast live on Jio Cinema now and is currently airing on the Star Sports network. The opening ceremony was jam-packed with thrilling performances from superstars Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. Maestro A. R Rahman performed with Sonu Nigam, Mohit Chauhan, and Neeti Mohan. While the performances were definitely a spectacle, the internet had so many reactions, and they were hilarious.
The opening ceremony of IPL 2024 roped in some of the biggest music, movies, and social media stars. The ceremony started with Tiger Shroff cruising on his biggest hits, like Jai Jai Shivshakar. But Akshay Kumar stole the stage with his entry on a harness and a medley of his career hits, like Bhool Bhulaiya, Chura Ke Dil Mera, and Desi Boyz.
The two also performed the hit songs from their upcoming movie, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Music Maestro A.R Rahman pulled out all the stops for his musical extravaganza.
Starting the show with a patriotic note, Rahman and NIgam performed hits like Satrangi Re. Mohit Chauhan later joined A.R. to belt their famous hits Like Masakali. Then, he performed a medley of his hit songs like Chaiyya Chaiyya, Taal Se Taal Mila, and Nee Singham Thaan.
But fans on the internet had mixed reactions to the ceremony. While there was only praise for Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s performances, many doubted Rahman’s live performance.

Meanwhile, the season’s first match will occur between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and decided to bat.
