The Marvel Cinematic Universe, aka MCU, finally got its own Spider-Man in Tom Holland when Sony decided to share the universe with MCU. But there was reportedly a time when the studio was clueless about in which direction to go after Andrew Garfield led The Amazing Spider-Man 2—after finishing TASM 2, producer Amy Pascal called Marvel boss Kevin Feige asking for some help. But it took an unexpected turn for Feige as Pascal hurled her lunch at him.

Peter Parker has been under Sony since Tobey Maguire’s franchise, followed by Andrew’s film series. Sony’s decision to share their Spider-Man universe with the MCU led to the making of No Way Home with all three Peter Parker actors. It was both critically and commercially successful. Tobey and Andrew are now part of the MCU, and with the concept of Multiverse, they can appear in other projects as well.

However, initially, Sony’s Amy Pascal was not very fond of the idea. In an old interview with the New York Times, she recalled and revealed what happened between her and Kevin Feige when she called him asking for help. From there, the studio was reportedly at a loss about what to do with Spider-Man. Pascal said, “That is the truth. I called Kevin and said, ‘Help.’ And then he came over to my office for lunch and said, ‘I know how to help you.’ And then I threw a sandwich at him.”
