Suicide Squad Director David Ayer REACTS To Criticism For S*xualising Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn!

DC’s Suicide Squad had released in 2016 but even after 4 years, it manages to grab many headlines. There are a lot of reasons why fans and critics keep mentioning this David Ayer directorial. One of the reasons it receives criticism is for s*xualising Margot Robbie’s character, Harley Quinn.
A certain section of people believe that David Ayer showed Harley Quinn on the screen exclusively through the lens of the male gaze. The Suicide Squad director has been answering several fan questions about his 2016 film on his Twitter page for the past 4-5 days.
On the announcement news of David Ayer’s upcoming film Six Years, a fan wrote, “wonder if @DavidAyerMovies will have the women in the movie in super booty shorts and give us gratuitous ass and tit shots?” To this, the Suicide Squad director responded, “Why would I do that? I know I’m a man, but I have a good soul and support and believe in feminism. It hurts to be attacked like this. I’m not your enemy.”
The fans replied to David by stating how he s*xualised Harley Quinn’s character in Suicide Squad. The fan responded, “Dunno mate you did it in Suicide Squad so I thought I’d ask. Good for you that you learned though.”
This reply triggered David Ayer who wrote, “What have I learned? Should make directors only direct women in coveralls? What if an actor wants to depicted as a sexual being? Am I permitted to do that? What are the rules? Help!”

In his tweets earlier, Ayer also revealed that he feels bad that Jared Leto’s Joker in the film didn’t receive the prominence it deserved.
The next Suicide Squad movie will be directed by James Gunn. Along with Margot, the film will feature Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Peter Capaldi, Idris Elba, Viola Davis, Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland.
