The trailer of Little Women based on the book of the same name by Louisa May Alcott is out. The film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Timothée Chalamet, Laura Dern and Meryl Streep.
Director by Greta Gerwig, the trailer of Little Women gives us a deeper insight into women’s lives and how it’s a mandate for them to fall in love and marry. Saoirse’s character Jo March is enraged with how women are being defined by their beauty standards, love, relationships and marriage more than their hopes and dreams.
There’s a powerful dialogue Jo says in the film, “Women, they have minds and they have souls, as well as just hearts, and they’ve got ambition, and they’ve got talent as well as just beauty. I’m so sick of people saying that love is all that a woman is just fit for. I’m so sick of it.” When Jo realises that her sisters and Aunt March (played by Meryl) don’t understand her quest to find herself and fulfil her dream, she decides to go on her journey by herself.
