Lin-Manuel Miranda’s famous Broadway Hamilton was converted into a movie and got released on Disney+ last week. Hamilton is one of its kind musical Broadway and has been appreciated widely. But the film version of this US musical has landed into trouble. It has been widely criticized owing to its central character Alexander Hamilton who was one of the founding fathers of the US.

Some people are accusing Lin-Manuel Miranda of downplaying slavery in the film and demanding to cancel Hamilton.

Miranda has finally spoken about the criticism openly on 6th July. After briefly making his Twitter account private, he tweeted,” All the criticisms are valid. The sheer tonnage of complexities & failings of these people I couldn’t get. Or wrestled with but cut,” he continued, referring to the darker sides of the founding fathers’ history, including the exploitative practice of chattel slave labor. “I took 6 years and fit as much as I could in a 2.5-hour musical. Did my best. It’s all fair game.”
