When it comes to FRIENDS, Matthew Perry’s Chandler has been one of the most loved characters of the show. He has some quirks and his fan following especially girls just increased with each passing season.
Matthew Perry, over the years, made sure to keep the likeability of Chandler maximum, and for this, he was personally involved in the way of how his character gets shaped.
There was a scene planned in FRIENDS in which Chandler goes to a strip club which was edited out. In a conversation with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, Matthew said, “There was a storyline on Friends where Chandler went to a male strip joint because he liked the sandwiches. I called up and I said, ‘Let’s not do this one.’”
Now, isn’t this fascinating? Because with all the quirks Chandler has, the audience wouldn’t have minded this scene but Matthew Perry made sure to not display anything he wouldn’t like his fans to watch or follow. That scene was removed by writers, though a strip-club scene was there in one of the upcoming seasons it wasn’t because Chandler liked sandwiches.
On the same show, Matthew Perry was also asked about the infamous ‘no-s*x clause’ of the show. To which David Schwimmer had replied in the past that it was broken.
Andy Cohen tried to make Matthew Perry speak about who broke the clause, to which he said, “I don’t know who he was referring to. I think there was no sex with anyone or I was really missing something.”
