DC Trivia #3: When Henry Cavill AKA Superman, Cillian Murphy AKA Thomas Shelby & 6 Other Actors Auditioned For Christian Bale’s Batman

Another day, another interesting trivia related to DC films and this time it’s Christian Bale’s Batman Begins. Henry Cavill is known for being Superman and Cillian Murphy is rocking Birmingham in his show Peaky Blinders. But did you know they both along with six other actors auditioned for being Batman?
This is debatable but for many Christian Bale will always remain the best Batman out there. Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy did change the scenario for DC setting an unprecedented benchmark.
In a trivia published on DC Movies Wiki on Fandom, we discovered, “Only days before the role of Batman was cast, eight actors were asked to audition for the part. The actors were Christian Bale, Joshua Jackson, Eion Bailey, Hugh Dancy, Billy Crudup, Cillian Murphy, Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal.”
The trivia also read, “While Bale won the part, Christopher Nolan liked Murphy’s audition so much, he cast him as Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow. Henry Cavill later went on to play Superman in which Chris Nolan is a producer. Part of the audition process involved the actors wearing a Batman mask and an old mask used by Val Kilmer in Batman Forever (1995) was brought out of storage for this purpose.”
