Daredevil Star Peter Shinkoda Calls Out Marvel TV Head Jeph Loeb For Anti-Asian Comments

Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb has faced backlash for his alleged anti-Asian moves yet again. Daredevil actor Peter Shinkoda has come out in the #SaveDaredevilCon and spoken about Loeb’s Anti-Asian comments during the production of the show. Justice League actor Ray Fisher has stood in Shinkoda’s support and here’s what exactly happened.
Peter Shinkoda was attending the virtual #SaveDaredevilCon with co-stars Geoffrey Cantor and Tommy Walker. Shinkoda, who plays Nobu Yoshioka on Daredevil, revealed how there was a parallel story of Nobu in works. It explored his relationship with Madame Goa. But Jeph Loeb scrapped it altogether.
Talking about the same Peter Shinkoda said, “Jeph Loeb told the writers room not to write for Nobu and Gao…and this was reiterated many times by many of the writers and showrunners.”
He added, “He said ‘Nobody cares about Chinese people and Asian people. There were three previous Marvel movies, a trilogy called Blade that was made where Wesley Snipes killed 200 Asians each movie. Nobody gives a sh*t so don’t write about Nobu and Gao.’”
Peter Shinkoda’s revelations did create a stir. The actor found support in Ray Fisher, who lately has been active about wrongdoings on sets. Fisher wrote, “Our industry will not advance unless we are willing to speak the names of those preventing it from doing so! Thank you for standing up and speaking out @PeterShinkoda I stand with you.”
For the unversed, Ray Fisher has called out Justice League director Joss Whedon for his alleged abusive and toxic behaviour on the sets of the film.
Meanwhile, as for Marvel Television chief Jeph Loeb, Peter Shinkoda isn’t the first person to call him out for his anti-Asian comments. Loeb faced backlash even when he cast Finn Jones in Iron Fist. His move was called tone-deaf and racial.
