It seems like while the world is fighting the coronavirus pandemic, a lot of batmen are busy at work. Robert Pattinson is also set to play the hero in ‘The Batman,’. Now, we hear Ben Affleck too, is set to return to the iconic role in Flash.
Ben played Batman in Zack Snyder’s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ (2016) and ‘Justice League’ (2017). He also appeared in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Since a while, speculations were strong with regards to the actor playing the superhero.
After endless speculation and constant back-and-forth, Vanity Fair has confirmed that Ben Affleck is returning as Batman for a role in Andy Muschietti’s ‘The Flash’. Talking about the character, the director said, “His Batman has a dichotomy that is very strong, which is his masculinity—because of the way he looks, and the imposing figure that he has, and his jawline —but he’s also very vulnerable.” Adding, “He knows how to deliver from the inside out, that vulnerability. He just needs a story that allows him to bring that contrast, that balance.”
The director continued, “He’s a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie. The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before.”
He further added, “It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That’s where the Ben Affleck Batman kicks in.”
Ben Affleck got the script at the end of last week and agreed this week to join the project.
The Flash movie, which is set for release in Summer 2022, is being directed by Andy Muschietti and will feature Ezra Miller as the fast-moving hyper-hero Barry Allen. The film is an adaptation of DC’s 2011 Flashpoint series of comic book crossovers.
Now the question now, which most fans will be asking is, will Ben Affleck stick around the DC universe beyond The Flash? We will have to wait and see.
