The journey has been difficult for Amanda, who faced multiple legal troubles in her early 20s. In 2012, she was charged with driving under the influence (DUI). The following year, she was spotted smoking marijuana in a hotel lobby and threw it out of the window when the officers caught her. She was also detained for allegedly starting a fire in July of the same year.
Amanda Bynes’ abuse allegations against father
Following hospitalization, Amanda Bynes’ parents filed for conservatorship, which began in 2013 and continued till 2022. But in a series of tweets in 2014, she accused her father of physically and verbally abusing her.
Amanda Bynes wrote in one of her tweets, “He called me ugly as a child and then asked me if I wanted to have s*x with him. My dad fondled himself in front of me so many times that I started recording him on my phone in hopes of catching him.”
If that isn’t shocking enough, Amanda claimed her mother was aware of the abuse and trying to gain a restraining order against her father. But she later went on to rubbish all her claims and apologized for her behavior.
Amanda declares abuse allegations were false
Amanda Bynes took a U-turn as she wrote, “My dad never did any of those things The microchip in my brain made me say those things, but he’s the one that ordered them to microchip me.”
Bynes’ mother also denied the allegations made against her husband. In an official statement, she claimed her older kids were horrified by the claims. She blamed her daughter’s mental state for all the wild yet allegedly baseless allegations.

In February 2022, Amanda Bynes filed to end her conservatorship after she claimed her health had improved. Her parents were in support of her decision, and the conservatorship was terminated the following month.
