Step aside, Deadpool and Wolverine. There’s a new monster in town, all set to devour its competition to become the No. 1 movie at the worldwide box office this weekend. The latest rendition of the Ridley Scott-produced sci-fi franchise Alien: Romulus is on track to govern the global box office this weekend after the stellar reviews.

The newest entry in the iconic series that began with the original 1979 film by Ridley Scott debuted with 82% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes after 128 reviews. Alien: Romulus is the third highest-rated title in the entire 45-year-old franchise, which revolves around a woman warrior (Cailee Spaeny) making her last stand against a slew of extraterrestrials.

Directed by Fede Alvarez, Alien: Romulus was praised by critics, with Empire Magazine describing the latest entry as the third-best film in the franchise. They wrote, “Fede Alvarez once again proves apt at the art of remixing with Alien: Romulus; it doesn’t have ambition or much originality, but it’s elevated by a chilling atmosphere, escalating momentum, and a resiliently fierce Cailee Spaeny.”
