It’s never a good feeling when a good film gets shelved. Something similar happened with Randeep Hooda’s Battle of Saragarhi. The actor had prepped a lot to get into the skin of the character. It was in the development stage for 3 years.
But last year, we got to see Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari which was based on the same story. Koimoi spoke to Divyansh Pandit, who was the AD of the film and also was a part of the scripting. In our interview, he shared how Randeep would’ve nailed it if the film would’ve been made and released for the audience.
Divyansh Pandit also shared all the efforts Randeep Hooda took for his character. He said, “Randeep had given it all for the film. He left so many films to maintain his look for this film as it is. He literally became a Sikh at that time. Even today, he says that the entire experience has helped him learn a lot. He said ‘I have changed as a person’. Sikhism taught him the feeling of sacrifice and helping others. I’m sure koi bhi religion hota toh yahi sikhata because religion saare ek hi cheez sikhate hai. He was so submerged into the character that I can totally imagine what he and Rajkumar Santoshi must have gone through when it got shelved. Even we were frustrated that why wasn’t the film made. But they must have gotten affected the most. This would have been Rajkumar Santoshi’s best film.”
