Early estimates indicated a possibility of a start better than Drishyam 2, but the film missed it by a few lakhs. As per the official data, an opening day of 15.21 crores was recorded at the Indian box office, thus grabbing the 5th position on the list of Ajay Devgn’s biggest openers of all time. It crossed Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’s 15.10 crores.

As per Sacnilk, Shaitaan recorded an impressive 7.83 lakh footfalls for day 1. It means that the film sold 7.83 lakh tickets on the opening day. It’s a big number for a horror thriller, and it clearly indicates that a well-cut trailer and positive word-of-mouth did their job well.
