Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, is all set for its grand theatrical release this Diwali. After keeping the movie buffs waiting for a long time, the makers finally unveiled the first glimpse of Ranbir’s character as lord Rama. As expected, it has left the audience excited, and it promises to be a visual spectacle. But will it be able to pull off an exciting feat at the Indian box office, being a non-sequel film? Let’s discuss it below!

Strong buzz for Ramayana

In the past, we have seen many television shows and movies based on the Indian epic, the Ramayana, but the upcoming magnum opus promises to be a never-before-seen experience, and, given its mammoth budget, it is likely to change Indian cinema forever. Given the credentials involved, the hype for the film is high, and it has the potential to set new records.

Over the years, the market of Indian movies has increased significantly. Due to an increase in the number of theaters and high ticket prices, we have seen several films minting unbelievable numbers at the Indian box office. After Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2, now expectations are sky high from the upcoming magnum opuses, and Ramayana is one of them.

Ramayana is likely to make history as a non-sequel film

Considering the subject that is dear to a majority of Indians and the scale of filmmaking, movie buffs are genuinely interested in Ramayana, and it is expected to earn at least 1000 crore net at the Indian box office. With this, it has an opportunity to make history by becoming the first non-sequel film to earn 1000 crore net in India.

Till now, no non-sequel film has managed to make 1000 crore net. Only two films achieved the feat: Baahubali 2 and Pushpa 2, both sequels. Dhurandhar 2 will be the next film in this elite club, but again, it is also a sequel. So, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer has a strong chance to become the first non-sequel film to achieve the feat at the Indian box office.
