Padmaavat has recorded excellent collections in its extended first week. The film currently stands at 166.50 crore* which is a huge number, especially considering the fact that it had arrived amidst a lot of trouble.
As a matter of fact, the historical could have gone anywhere since no one was sure even till two days into the release that whether there would be any sort of protests disrupting the shows. Fortunately for Sanjay Leela Bhansali and team, everything came together at just the right time and the results are there to be seen.

The film did lose out on moolah since it didn’t release all over. However, there has been an addition to the total due to Wednesday paid previews and Thursday release. So in a way, it all balanced out eventually at least from the first extended week perspective.

However, the gap would now pinch from this week onwards since the regular days come into effect. The film is still not playing in all states due to which there would be a shortfall of at least 10 crore in the second week.
There is good competition for the film from next week on as well since Padman and Aiyaary are coming together. That would result in the division of screens as well as audience attention. It would be interesting to see how Padmaavat holds on from there. While a lifetime sum of around 230-240 crore is still on the cards, any number beyond that would be added bonus for the film.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
