Mirzya has turned out to be the Biggest Disaster of 2016. Though there have been several poor shows at the Box Office this year, nothing can beat the fate that the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has suffered in theaters. This can be seen from the fact that the film, in its opening weekend, has earned lesser than Madaari, Freaky Ali, Great Grand Masti, 1920 London and Teraa Surroor while being in spoken about in the same context as Banjo and Saala Khadoos.
Madaari – 9.75 crore Freaky Ali – 8.5 crore Great Grand Masti – 8.5 crore 1920 London – 7.73 crore Teraa Surroor – 6.46 crore Mirzya – 6.50 crore Banjo – 5.92 crore Saala Khadoos – 5.79 crore
Saiyami Kher and Harshvardhan Kapoor in a still from Mirzya
A complete rejection from all quarters has been quite unfortunate for the film as it would now turn out to be a one week show at maximum. While it originally came with a huge advantage of a three week open run, owing to the next big releases being Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil on Diwali, all of that has now disappeared in thin air as there is just no traction for the film. It now has to be seen if the film would eventually manage to have a first week run of 10 crore.
