When it comes to Hollywood films, usually the franchise films have had a good buzz in India and thus have managed to perform well at the box office too. Last year, Disney’s The Jungle Book became the highest grossing Hollywood film. It made a collection of 188 crores at the India box office and became a super-hit. With one of the biggest Hollywood releases, up for release this week, we can’t help but wonder how many records it will break. The Fate Of The Furious is the 8th installment in the franchise, that is extremely popular and enjoys a huge fan base in India.
Interestingly, the film’s previous installment, Furious 7 which released in 2015, enjoyed a great box office run. It became a 100 crore affair in India and that is huge. The other Hollywood releases that made it to the 100 crore club in India was also Jurassic World. Both the 2015 releases pulled off a commendable business with a good buzz in India. While Furious 7 collected 110 crores, Jurassic World made a lifetime collection of 101 crores.
Vin Diesel’s last film, xXx: Return Of Xander Cage starring Deepika Padukone who made her Hollywood debut, failed to make a good business in India. The film made a lifetime collection of merely 35 crores in India. It was much lesser than expected. Considering that currently there are no big Bollywood releases this week, Furious 8 is expected to be met with huge responses.
Apart from the ensemble cast of Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Kurt Russell, Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren, Academy Award winner Charlize Theron will feature as a fierce villain named Cipher, who has the technology to hack into the world’s computerized cars in this 8th installment of action franchise film.The Fate of the Furious is directed by F. Gary Gray and will be hitting the screens this Friday!
