The start of the 70s era was good for Bollywood as Dev Anand’s Johny Mera Naam gave the film industry a theatrical revenue of 4.5 crores straightaway. The film was top grosser of that year.
Apart from Dev Anand, other stars like Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna also made a huge mark. Both of them had 3 films in the list of Top 10. But these two were heavily supported by Hema Malini and Vinod Khanna. While Hema’s stardom helped Dharmendra in two films, Vinod also helped two Rajesh Khanna starrers.

Manoj Kumar’s much loved Purab Aur Paschim was released in the same year and proved to be 4th highest grosser of 1970.
