Ek Villain Hits Century; Poor Show For Bobby Jasoos, LHDD | Box Office Collections

Let’s talk about Bobby Jasoos first. The film was never meant to open well but then it was expected that word of mouth would do the trick for it, as was the case with Vidya’s own Kahaani and very recently Kangana Ranaut’s Queen. However, while the growth over the weekend was just about okay, weekdays were very ordinary. As a result of that, the film made a business of 10.85 crores and more collections aren’t expected from this point on since Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania would occupy a large number of screen count.

On the other hand Lekar Hum Deewana Dil has turned out to be a poor show all the way, what with first week reading less than 2.5 crore at the end of its first week run. This is not just the poorest start for a film this year, it is also one of the lowest that a film starring newcomers is concerned, especially the one which features at least one of the leads belonging to a film family. Really, despite the mixed reports that the content fetched, one expected better since the film had been reasonably well promoted and warranted decent footfalls at the least.

What worked though was Ek Villain which continued to bring in around 2 crore on each of the weekdays, hence resulting in the film crossing the 100 crore mark. This is fantastic indeed for all involved, what with Ekta Kapoor, Mohit Suri, Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor entering the 100 crore club and Riteish Deshmukh enjoying his third after Housefull 2 and Grand Masti. In a year which has seen biggies like Jai Ho and Holiday crossing the 100 crore mark, it is heartening to see youngsters hitting the century too with 2 States and now Ek Villain making the cut.
