As expected, everything boiled down to word of mouth for Karle Pyaar Karle. There wasn’t much expected from the opening perspective and the Shiv Darshan-Hasleen Kaur starrer may just have seen some escalation had word of mouth caught up soon and critical appreciation been there. None of that happened as the footfalls were very minimal with some shows reporting even single digit entries. It was all the more surprising to see a leading multiplex chain not even screening the film, hence further denting the collections. With the film struggling to reach the 1 crore mark over the weekend, writing is clear on the wall.
Second release of the week, Miss Lovely couldn’t rake in much moolah! Released on a selective screen count, the film saw some good reviews coming its way. However that didn’t quite result in any major jump in collections. As it happens with releases arriving just a week before a biggie (in this case Jai Ho), even the Nawazuddin and Niharika starrer didn’t really have audience rooting for it on its opening day, despite credentials. Collections were even lower than that of Karle Pyaar Karle, though they may stay consistent for rest of the week.
This was taken advantage of by Dedh Ishqiya and Yaariyan, both of which saw some moolah added to their kitty, albeit on a lower side. Overall collections of both films in their second week would surpass that of the newer releases. However real jump would now be seen only when Jai Ho hits the screens.
