Citylights held up well on its first weekend. As per the production house, the film collected 70 Lacs on its opening day, 1.32 crores on Saturday and 1.55 crores on Sunday. Citylights showed a good upward trend in the collections, taking its total to 3.57 crores at the domestic box office. Made on a budget of 2.5 cr along with P & A of approx 4 crore, the film has already recovered 7 crores from its satellite rights and music.
Citylights picked up really well over the weekend what with the collections doubled on Saturday since its opening day collections. Also, interestingly, even though there were IPL finals on Sunday, the film’s business did not suffer at all.
This Hansal Mehta film has already surpassed the lifetime collections of his last film Shahid over the weekend. Citylights has performed better than the other release Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Hogayi and is expected to do better over the first week.
