Citylights remained quite steady over the second week what with raking in 1.14 crores, despite facing a major screen crunch. After collecting 80 lacs in its second weekend, the film managed to rake in a business of 8.1 lacs on Monday, 8.9 lacs on Tuesday, 8.4 lacs on Wednesday, 8.3 lacs on Thursday. The film stands with a total business of 7.94 crores at the domestic box office.
Starring Rajkumar Rao and Patralekha in lead roles, the film has surely been critically acclaimed although it lacked on the commercial cinema quotient to make a good business at the box office. With a simplistic tale of a man who comes to the unnerving city of Mumbai in search of livelihood, Citylights is a film that had strong content and some honest performances.
The film’s satellite and music rights have been sold at 7 crores and thus it has become a profitable venture for Fox Star Studios and Vishesh Films.
