Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 was the only film that brought in audience, and that too in its third week, even as the six new releases turned out to be all around disasters. The Luv Ranjan directed comedy went on to bring good moolah of around 6.5 crore. As a result, the film has now crossed the 60 crore mark and is a clear super hit at the Box Office.
The film not just managed to go past the biggie Shaandaar in style but also collected more than any other new release over the week gone by. The film is now the 12th highest grosser of the year so far while costing much lower than each one of the films above it in the list.
Meanwhile, Shaandarr saw a fall like never before and was literally dabbling in the 20 lakh range during the weekdays. Less than 2.5 crore came for the film in its second week and though some theaters are still screening a show or two in the third week, the game is over for the Vikas Behl directed affair. The film is set to end its run at the 43 crore mark, which is just a little over three times its opening day collections of 13.1 crore. Disaster.
Less said about the rest of the releases, the better. The only films that still had some sort of collections were Main Aur Charles, Guddu Ki Gun and Titli. However, even the combined collections of these films were less than 10 crore which pretty much tells the tale. Between these films, Main Aur Charles is still seeing some shows retained in the second week.
Rest of the releases, Once Upon A Time In Bihar, Love Exchange and Prithipal Singh, had hardly any shows reserved for them in the first week and that reflected in the collections too, which read in lakhs. Amongst these, at least Once Upon A Time In Bihar saw some critical attention coming its way.
