It was back in October 2014 when Hrithik Roshan had arrived with Bang Bang. Even with Haider as (some sort of) competition, the film went on to take a very good opening. It then went from strength to strength and soon enough entered the 150 crore club as well. What had really worked in favor of the film was a terrific teaser promo which had made a smash impact.

Now that Hrithik is back with Mohenjo Daro, a promo as powerful as Bang Bang (in terms of an impact) would have done wonders for the film. After all, who doesn’t like to witness a big budget extravaganza unfold on the big screen, and that too when the man at the helm of affairs is a master craftsman, Ashutosh Gowariker.

However, since the promo was nowhere close to being superb and the songs too turned out to be situational, Mohenjo Daro couldn’t really capitalize on the brand power that it would have otherwise boasted of. Moreover, with Rustom going ahead full steam with its promotional and marketing campaign, Mohenjo Daro indeed had a challenge in hand.

Hence, now it all boils down to the film working on the strength of the content that the director has to offer. From the subject matter perspective, there are a lot of expectations since it is going to be a first ever experience for Indian audience. A film of this scale and set thousands of years before has never been made before. That definitely promises a unique experience for the audience and hence, the expectations stay on to be any high. One just hopes that the makers didn’t really wish to reveal the core essence of the film through its promos and hence the real matter is still out there and waiting to be lapped.

Hence, while Friday collections in the upwards of 10 crore are pretty much on the cards, it would be jumps that Mohenjo Daro takes on Saturday and Sunday that would decide the distance that the film would eventually cover.
