The BIG DAY is just round the corner for Ajay Devgn. His dream passion project Shivaay is set to hit the screens in less than 50 hours from now and if the promos are any indication, it has been mounted at the kind of scale which is very rare for a Bollywood film. Shivaay made an instant impression the moment its theatrical promo was unveiled. Ever since then, the film has managed a sustained hype with good enough intrigue built around it storyline. In fact as a producer and director, Ajay has done wonderfully well to build a suspense element around the film’s plotline, which has been a smart move.
Till date, Ajay’s biggest opening day numbers have been registered by Singham Returns. That film had hit it out of the mark due to it being the sequel of (much loved) Singham, and also the Independence Day release factor. With the Rohit Shetty directed film, Ajay had managed to almost triple the collections of his biggest opener till date, Bol Bachchan [12.1 crore]. Of course, that was an exception and while Ajay has consistently delivered 100 crore hits (he has five centuries to his name), they have primarily been 100-110 crore affairs with Singham Returns [140 crore] being the only exception.

While one waits to see how the lifetime total of Shivaay turns out to be, the expectations are that Ajay would deliver his second biggest start ever, hence surpassing the opening day numbers of Bol Bachchan.

Singham Returns – 32 crore
Bol Bachchan – 12.1 crore
Satyagraha – 11.21 crore
Action Jackson – 11 crore
Son of Sardaar – 10.72 crore
Raajneeti – 10.5 crore
Himmatwala – 10.5 crore
Singham – 9 crore
Golmaal 3 – 8.5 crore
Drishyam – 8 crore
Ever since the beginning of his career, Ajay has scored in the consistency department and that comes in due to a loyal fan base that has been accumulated in the past 25 years. Considering the fact that Shivaay goes beyond just the regular audience of Ajay Devgn and has a good deal to offer for the multiplex audience too, the film is set to penetrate in that segment as well.
