Box Office – Dilwale Hangs On In Its Second Weekend

Dilwale has managed to just about hang on well during the second weekend. All eyes were on how the film would see an escalation on the big Christmas weekend. After all, the weekdays were good, not excellent, and hence all chances for the film to accumulate a huge total depended on how much does it gather over the second weekend.

However, the big push was missing that could have allowed the film to come anywhere close to the 200 crore mark. The film hardly rose even on the Christmas holiday while Saturday and Sunday weren’t anything extraordinary. As a result, just around 21.23 crore came in over the weekend, which was at least 10 crore short of the number that would have set the momentum for the weekdays.

Currently, the film stands at 123.88 crore and the best case scenario for the Rohit Shetty film would be to finally touch the 150 crore mark. This is now just about decent for those who had invested in it, though it is a different story altogether in overseas where it has managed some very good numbers.

Shahrukh Khan can now be expected to move on and concentrate entirely on Fan and Raees which appear to be good entertainers in the offering. These films, along with the one he is doing with Alia Bhatt for director Gauri Shinde, should present Shahrukh Khan in an altogether different light right through 2016.

As for Kajol, she is set to start her next film with hubby Ajay Devgn as the producer in mid-2016. Varun Dhawan is already wrapping up Dhishoom which seems like a solid masala entertainer. As for Kriti Sanon, she has her eyes set on the romantic entertainer by Dinesh Vijan with Sushant Singh Rajput as the lead.
