Azaad, marking the acting debut of Aaman Devgn and Rasha Thadani, has pulled off a dismal total so far at the Indian box office. After a slow start, the film failed to pick up the pace, resulting in an underwhelming collection during the opening weekend. Considering the collection of less than 5 crores in the weekend, the number was expected to drop below the 1 crore mark, and that’s what happened. Keep reading for a detailed collection report of day 4!
Helmed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor, the film was released theatrically on January 17. Upon its release, the film received mostly favorable reviews from critics. Even among the ticket-buying audience, it fared with decent word-of-mouth, but unfortunately, the same didn’t translate into footfalls. Due to its niche subject and fresh faces leading the pack, the Bollywood historical drama failed to attract a wider audience.
On day 1, Azaad clocked 1.50 crores, which was significantly boosted by the discounted ticket rates of Cinema Lovers Day. On day 2, the collection dipped slightly, and an estimated 1.40 crores came in. On day 3, it witnessed a negligible jump and earned 1.85 crores. On day 4, the film failed the litmus test of Monday and fell below the 1 crore mark.
