It was a solid start at the box office for Article 370, as 6.12 crores came in. For a film belonging to this genre, which is more of a geopolitical drama than a geopolitical action thriller, these are really good numbers. In fact, parallels can well be drawn with Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Anek, which was in the same zone, and while that dealt with North East insurgency, Yami Gautam’s Article 370 is about the Kashmir issue and that further makes the film relatable to many. As a result, the footfalls are strong as well.

There was a very good push that it also got due to Cinema Lover’s Day, as a result of which the tickets were available for just Rs. 99. However, one also needs to consider the fact that this is more of a class affair and hence even if the film would have opened at the regular ticket prices, the collections would still have been on the same lines.

The reason being that even with relatively lesser footfalls, higher ticket prices would have negated that factor and still allowed the film to go past the 5 crores mark comfortably.
