2 States finally made an entry into the coveted 100 crore club by making over 100 crores at the domestic box office after the completion of its 4th Saturday. The film that currently stands at the 100 crore mark has remained steady at the box office ever since its release. Though the actual figures are being compiled and will be updated shortly, the film has become the 28th entrant into the illustrious 100 crore club of Bollywood.
Based on the bestselling book by Chetan Bhagat, of the same name, it is obviously a matter of pride for the writer that every cinematic translation of his novels since 3 Idiots is turning is into glorious successes either in terms of the money raked or in terms of the reviews garnered. With 3 Idiots establishing a 200 crore club and Kai Po Che getting him his first Filmfare Award, 2 States just goes on to prove that he does understand the language of the masses and tell stories that strike a chord with all.

Though most critics pointed out that Abhishek Varman’s film isn’t as brilliant as the book, the endearing factor of teh script went on to consistently invite crowds to watch the movie. Benefiting most from this will be the film’s stars, young actors Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor who delivered their first 100 crore film with this. Obviously this will help in upping their market value and the duo who were considered quite an item till sometime back can expect multiple new projects flowing their way.
