One thing that constantly was being raised eyebrows was the curious case of 15 crores. Father KK Singh mentioned that SSR had that huge amount in his bank but where has it disappeared now?
A lot has already happened in recent developments. The entire case has now taken the drug angle, which is far more complicated. But if one remembers, director Rumi Jaffery was planning to make a film with Sushant. It was planned to even star Rhea alongside.
For long, speculations were made that Sushant Singh Rajput had been paid a signing amount of 15 crores for that film. Furthermore, allegations were made that it was Rhea Chakraborty who duped the late actor of his huge sum. The director, Rumi Jaffery, has now come out in the open. He has revealed that no money was paid in the first place.
Rumi Jaffery in a conversation with India Today mentioned that the lockdown turned a barrier. Furthermore, paying 15 crores at one go is impossible as that doesn’t even happen with big stars.
“Yes, we did have a film project. In this industry, no producer can pay Rs 15 crore even to top stars. This is not even the full price, leave alone signing amount. Why should the money be paid? No agreement was signed in the first place. It was his bad luck. The lockdown happened,” said the filmmaker.
He also explained the entire process of payment in filmmaking. “Whether you are a director, a hero or a heroine, the amounts have to be first agreed upon. For instance, if there’s an agreement to pay Rs 100 to Rumy Jaffery, the mode of payment will be something like this: five per cent as signing amount, which I may try to negotiate to 10 per cent. Then another five per cent during the pre-production stage, then at first and second schedules, then during dubbing and finally during release,” Rumi Jaffery added.
Looks like the 15 crores that created a lot of noise never existed in the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
