Since Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in mid-June, the late actor has been in news every single day. Now, the five doctors who signed the post-mortem report are being targeted. They are being harassed online as well as receiving abusive calls.
For the unversed, in the post-mortem report conducted hours after Sushant’s death, Cooper hospital had said the actor had died of ‘asphyxia due to hanging’. However, the actor’s family have suggested a foul play in the case. His family lawyer even claimed that the time of death was not mentioned in the autopsy report.
A Mumbai Mirror report states that the malicious campaign put the doctors’ names with their phone numbers and a copy of the autopsy report online three days ago. In it, they allege that the doctor had taken a bribe to declare that the actor died by suicide.
The report further said that not only was it widely shared, but many people also began making abusive calls to them. The post also had a screenshot of the Facebook account of one of the doctors and the LinkedIn profile of another. Some people have even tracked down the doctors’ alternative contact numbers by pretending to be patients in distress. The hospital’s landline too is ringing with many calls.
From demanding that the doctors’ licences be cancelled and be booked for murder to asking for the hospital’s closure, the trollers haven’t spared anyone. They have even published the contact numbers and work profiles of doctors with similar names.
Dr Pinakin Gujjar, dean of Cooper hospital, confirmed to the media portal that the doctors are being abused online as well as on calls.
The Mumbai Mirror report also stated that the five doctors have expressed concern for their family’s safety. It also said that they are scared to file a police complaint fearing further harassment.
In the latest developments, the Supreme Court has ordered Central Bureau of Investigation to take over the Sushant Singh Rajput case. Also, the court has ordered the Bihar police to hand over the case registered with them to the CBI. As per a Time Of India report, the court has said that Mumbai Police will still have the jurisdiction of the case. However, they are ordered to hand over all the evidence of the case to the CBI.
