Raanjhanaa marked Dhanush’s big Bollywood debut and touched the viewers with his portrayal of an innocent yet obsessive lover, Kundan. Since childhood, Kundan worships his one-sided love Zoya (Sonam Kapoor), whose Muslim family is orthodox and reluctant to allow any Hindu guy to marry their daughter. Just to impress Zoya’s family, Kundan crazily tries to impress her family but all goes in vain as Zoya is sent out of town for studies. After getting aware of Zoya’s marriage with other guy named Jasjeet (Abhay Deol), Kundan tries sinful methods and obstructs the wedding, only to regret afterward.
