Shah Rukh Khan is known to be the superstar of Bollywood and when it comes to his persona, there are a lot many things that are hidden from the public eye. The actor recently appeared on the candid talk show hosted by veteran actor Anupam Kher, which is known as ‘The Anupam Kher Show – Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai’.
The duo have been in the industry for decades and have even worked together in several films. This time spilling the beans on his personal life, SRK revealed quite a bit and we must say we are surprised by some of these revelations. The show, which featured this Sunday, created quite a lot of buzz thanks to Shah Rukh’s unknown facts coming into open.

1. Shah Rukh Khan Was Originally Named Abdul Rahman By His Naani
Shah Rukh Khan’s actual name is Abdul Rahman. The actor admitted on the show that it was his ‘Nani’ who named him. Although he further states that the name was never registered anywhere and eventually he became the Shah Rukh Khan that we know of.
2. It Was His Father Who Named Him ‘Shah Rukh Khan’
Since Abdul Rahman is not his official name, his father was the one who named him ‘Shah Rukh Khan’. We must say the name has been surely lucky for him since he has achieved such great things today and is known worldwide.
3. SRK Wanted To join The Army
If you thought becoming an actor was Shah Rukh’s lifelong dream, well you are wrong. Talking about his aspirations, SRK admits that he always wanted to join the Indian Army. While we were more than impressed watching him as ‘Samar Arya’ in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, imagine if the star was an actual Army Officer. The actor confirms that although he went to an Army school, it was his mother who was not keen to send him in the Army.
4. SRK Was Adopted By His Naani
Young SRK was adopted by his grandmother who was keen to have a son. Few people know that until the age of 5-6 years, the actor stayed with his Naani and after some years moved back with his parents.
5. SRK Sleeps In Ironed Pajamas
As odd as that sounds but the superstar has a habit of wearing ironed pajamas, before going to bed as he believes that he should look presentable if he happens to meet someone special in his dreams!

King Khan has a fan following of millions but whom does the actor follow? It’s the yesteryear actress Mumtaz. Calling her extremely beautiful and sexy the actor states that he is a huge fan of her and that she has been his all time favorite actress.

As an actor it is very important to draw inspiration from yesteryear stars and when asked about his favorite actors, SRK mentions the names of all veteran actors such as Balraj Sahni, Vishwajeet, Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher and Dilip Kumar. He even gives a special mention of his mother being a huge fan of Dilip Kumar.
8. To Be An Actor Was Never On SRK’s Mind
Even though Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most loved actors today, it is hard to believe that there was a point of time when he did not wish to venture into acting. The actor says, “I Didn’t Want To Be An Actor”. More interested into other activities and especially with keen interest into the Defense forces, acting was not on SRK’s mind.
9. SRK Was Offered A Film By Harman Baweja’s Father
Yes, not many know that Shah Rukh was offered a film by Harry Baweja, Harman Baweja’s father. However, not keen into venturing acting, the actor denied the offer. He was also offered a project by Esha Deol’s cousin in his initial days.

Acting not being his dream career, SRK claims that it was the behind the scenes process of film making that had him more interested. He says, “I Wanted To Make Films & Not Act”. Well, we certainly thank our stars that he ended up acting and not directing because we know what we could have missed.
