Hailing from the land of the Pathans, Taj Mohammad, Shah Rukh’s father, fought valiantly for the country and as he was known to be, was a great gentleman. Such was the scenario that Shah Rukh Khan, now 48, is almost a replica of his father, when it comes to moralities and mindsets.

With broad open mindedness, Shah Rukh who was invited by Pakistan’s former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar to visit their country, has decided to take his family on a trip to Peshawar, their hometown. While he learnt the mehmaan nawaazi from the Peshawars when he visited his hometown, he wants his three children- Aryan, Suhana and AbRam to imbibe in the homely feeling as well. “I’d love to! My family is from Peshawar and few of them still live there. I would love to come to Peshawar and bring my children over because my father took me when I was 15 or 16. I still have some of the greatest memories of the time I spent with my father in Peshawar, Karachi and Lahore. I want to take my kids there,” said Shah Rukh.

By doing this, Shah Rukh tries to initiate a welcome change where India and Pakistan, known to be two most politically hostile countries, will get a chance to mitigate their differences and resolve the past issues. “I hope with whatever issues and stresses we have… I hope we become friends, we become friendlier, we become like a family and one together” was what a thoughtful Khan had to say.

Having visited several countries all over the world, Shah Rukh feels the way people abroad are devoid of any cultural differences, India and Pakistan have no such animosity against each other. “When I travel abroad, I notice it even more, because sitting in your nation you can’t make out. But when I go to London, Dubai or US, you don’t even get to know who is from where – there’s no cultural difference. I think people should forget (the past) and continue to be what we used to be”, was what he had to say
