Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas is considered one of the best Hindi movies. Everything about the 2002 movie is superlative, from the music to the set design to the storytelling. But what makes it exceptional is the star cast and their incredible performances. The cast includes Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
In Devdas, SRK plays the titular role. His character is a heartbroken lover who finds solace in alcohol, which ends up destroying his life. There are several scenes where Khan gives a compelling performance with his drunken act. But did you know that to make it look authentic, the Dunki actor actually took down shots of rum? The revelation was made by Shah Rukh Khan’s co-star Tiku Talsania, who plays Dharamdas.
On Digital Commentary, Tiku Talsania revealed, “We were shooting in the afternoon under the scorching sun, and he was taking shots of rum one after another. I said, ‘What are you doing? We have to act’.” Shah Rukh Khan responded to him, “Sir acting toh ho jayegi. Aankhon mein sharab dikhti nahi hai na, uska kya (Sir, acting will happen. But the inebriation won’t reflect in my eyes. What about that?).”
